The Bartlesville Public
School District currently offers two Indian Education programs, the
Cherokee Nation Johnson O’Malley program and the Title VII
program. Operation Eagle administers both programs under the direction
of Trudy Green, who is the BPSD's director of federal programs. The
Operation Eagle program director is Melissa Gillman and the office
assistant is Leslie Donnell. The office is located in the McKinley
building at 1536 SW Keeler Ave.
The Cherokee Nation Johnson O’Malley program provides school
supplies, caps and gowns for senior, and SAT fees to eligible students.
To qualify for the JOM program, a copy of the student’s
Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or other documentation of Indian
blood must be on file at the Operation Eagle office.
The Title VII, Indian Education grant provides tutoring for Indian
students to increase reading and math scores for Indian sub-groups on
state assessments to meet the No Child Left Behind mandates. The OK
PASS objectives are taught using cultural activities of dance, tribal
dress, art, history and tribal government. Title VII services do not
require documentation of Indian descent.
