On May 8, 2001 the voters of Bartlesville, Oklahoma approved a ten-year $30.5 million bond issue, with over $23 million designated for facility improvements at Bartlesville High School (BHS). The improvements came in several phases over the span of the bond issue. The last of the projects wrapped up in 2008.

The 2001 bond issue's origins trace back to a Long Range Facilities Planning Committee that met from February through December, 2000 to identify district facility needs. The bond issue was passed by a 72% super-majority of voters, and the projects proceeded with input from the Board of Education's Facilities Committee, various Bond Design Steering Committees and a Bond Oversight Committee.
