Students have a "Need to Read"
For Kane Elementary students, Friday, December 13, 2002 turned out to be a lucky day. As Kane students participated in "Pajama Day", 500 books were delivered to the school. On this Friday the 13th, a book was provided for every student to take home. Kane PTO applied to the N.E. Regional Learn and Serve Center, which is a part of Volunteers of America to obtain these books. The N.E. Regional Learn and Serve Center helps books get to kids through non-profit organizations. Kane PTO is excited to help their families build their resources to help fulfill our children's need to read. Kane Principal, Mrs. Beth Cook, Teachers and PTO understand the importance of encouraging children to develop a love for reading. This Book delivery will kick off a new program at Kane Elementary. The PTO will be helping to recycle books by sponsoring the "Need to Read" cart. The "Need to Read" cart has books available to the kids for a minimal fee, helping to build their reading resources at home. Books are meant to be read, so if you have children's books for grades Pre-K to 5th grade, you can donated them to Kane PTO, so they can be read over and over again. |
