Benson Wins Re-Election

 

Incumbent Nikki Benson won re-election to the Office 6 seat on the Bartlesville Board of Education on Tuesday. Benson, who was ap-pointed to the board in 2010, was opposed by Darla Gardner, a for-mer educator within the Bartles-ville Public School District.
 
Benson earned 2,514 votes – or
54.76 percent of the total – while Gardner collected 2,077 votes (45.24 percent)
 
A graduate of Conroe (Texas) High School, Benson holds bachelors (in management) and master’s (human resources) degrees from Texas A&M University. She is married to Chad Benson, and the couple has a daughter, Ellie.
 

The Bartlesville Board of Educa-tion features seven members in all, each representing one of seven offices that all told comprise the area encompass-ing the BPSD.

 
The members are president Doug Divelbiss (Office 4), vice president
 
 
Ben Rainey (Office 1), clerk Scott Bilger (Office 2) and mem-bers Rick Boswell (Office 7), Vanessa Drummond (Office 3), Mike Orr (Office 5) and Benson. The members are elected to four year terms and can seek sub-sequent re-election if they so choose.
 
Orr ran unopposed for his Offi ce
5 seat on Tuesday. Both Benson and Orr are scheduled to be sw-orn in for their new four-year terms during a regular meeting of the Bartlesville Board of Educa-tion on Monday evening.
