Wilson Elementary School History

1957: Woodrow Wilson

Bartlesville Public Schools

245 NE Spruce Avenue

Wilson, 1997

The Woodrow Wilson Elementary School was built in 1957 in Northeast Bartlesville. It cost $94,278 in 1957. By 1962 there were six portable classrooms at the site, and an all-purpose room was added in 1965 for $98,038. Six classrooms were added to Wilson by a 1993 bond issue, and a 1998 bond issue provided for air conditioning in the gymnasium and repairs to the building's exterior fascia. A 2000 bond issue led to the removal of fabric and vinyl wall covering from interior walls, which were then textured and repainted.

In addition to bond improvements to our facility our Parent Teacher Organization has provided many wonderful improvements through fundraising efforts. A new playground activity center for our main playground and an informational sign located on the east side of the building are some of the 2003 purchases. The summer of 2004 they purchased, planted and maintained six large trees to beautify our main playground area on the north side of the building. Moving to the inside of the building, a climbing wall was purchased for our gym. And in the spring of 2005 our PreK playground was overhauled on the south side of the building.  The PTO's efforts were then concentrated on technology.  Over the past three years they have purchased some new computers for teachers and a wireless network for the library.  In the 2007-08 school year, TV's and DVD/VCR combos were purchased for all classrooms.
